Fr, 4.12.2026, 1.30-16.30pm
The symposium Bodies – Access – Health is aimed at professionals working in art education and mediation, as well as students of art education, art mediation, and art therapy, teachers, and anyone with an interest in the field. It fosters the exchange of ideas and practices among local practitioners working at the intersection of art, accessibility, and health.
More
The first part of the symposium focuses on the accessibility of art institutions. Daniel Neugebauer (Head of Education and Public Programmes, Kunsthaus Zürich) will reflect on the role of museums within contemporary access discourse. Cynthia Gavranic (Head of Learning, Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst) will then provide insights into the significance of art and health within current educational and mediation practices. The session will explore how art institutions can assume and actively shape social responsibility at the intersection of culture, health, inclusion, and social engagement.
In the second part, participants will engage with practice-based questions surrounding contemporary art mediation through the exhibitions Canción de Amor by Nicole L’Huillier and She-Devils on Wheels Angels on Heels (Collection &: Sylvie Fleury, Shamiran Istifan). The focus will be on the challenges and opportunities of working with contemporary art through the lenses of access and health.
A collaboration between the Minor Radical Pedagogy in Museums, the Major Critical Social Practice in Art Education, and the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst.
