Workshop: Printing with Plants – Impressions from Nature

Special August 19, 2020 03:00 pm – 04:00 pm

In her installation Seeds of Change: New York - A Botany of Colonization (2017) in the exhibition Potential Worlds 1: Planetary Memories at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Maria Thereza Alves shows living plants that symbolize the history of colonialism and migration. In the 19th and 20th centuries, merchant and slave ships were loaded with earth to balance their ships. In this earth there were seeds, unintentionally on the move. The artist researches the path of these seeds and processes the results in her drawings, writings and plant prints. Based on Alves' project, we will create our own fascinating plant prints with leaves, flowers, or grasses, using various media.
