Listening Walk Kreis 5

Stretching thresholds, holding streams is a project initiated by artist Jeanne van Heeswijk and developed with Sophie Mak-Schram and collaborators. A growing constellation of invested people from the surroundings of the Museum are being invited to think in and with the museum's thresholds. Together – as makers, artists, activists, neighbours, and associations – they are working on a project that takes its starting point inside the museum and flows in and out of it, over a period of several months. Therefore, a central aspect of the project is the notion of a «stream».

What does Kreis 5 sound like to you, which sounds do you like to follow and which do you avoid? On Sihlquai, between Kornhausbrüche, X-tra, Bananenhaus and the technical school, the Feministisches Streikhaus (feminist strike house) is located on a strange piece of urban land. In the near future, the Bildungsmeile* is to be built here - but in the meantime, resistance has taken roots. We invite you to join us on a drift through the neighborhood, from the Feministisches Streikhaus to the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art. Together, we will listen to the sounds of the neighborhood, gentrification and the non-human actors living here.

​​Come alone or with friends. Everyone is welcome, whether you have previous knowledge or not. You are invited to document your listening experience. Important: You need a mobile phone with a recording function. Please let us know in advance if you would like us to provide you with a recording device.

Your recordings will be used on 30.11.24, 14.12.24 and 18.01.25 at various locations in the city, in which the reflections on urban space will be continued via movement and music improvisation with the Stadtorchester. People with and without previous knowledge of dance or music are invited to take part.
