Lila – Live concert with Mohamed Bourouissa & friends
Venue: Caring Space
A special highlight of this year’s Long Night of Museums is a live concert by artist Mohamed Bourouissa, whose practice extends beyond the visual arts into music.
Taking place within Pour Noubia, his current exhibition at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, the concert creates a direct encounter between Bourouissa’s visual and musical practices. Together with the musicians and multidisciplinary artists Charbel Haber, Floy Krouchi and Tarek Atoui he will present new musical material live and exclusively for the first time.
The performance echoes themes that also inform his artistic work, creating a dialogue between sound, image, and lived experience. His album Lila serves as an important reference point for his musical language, which blends atmospheric compositions, urban sonic textures, and narrative elements into an immersive listening experience.
Join us for this unique opportunity to experience Pour Noubia through music and to discover another dimension of Bourouissa’s artistic practice in an intimate live setting.
Mohamed Bourouissa is a French‑Algerian artist based in Paris whose multidisciplinary practice spans photography, video, installation, sculpture, and drawing. His work explores power, social dynamics, identity, and marginalised experience through long‑term, immersive projects that foreground intimate and collective narratives. Bourouissa’s projects have been exhibited internationally in major institutions including the Musée d’Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Centre Pompidou, the Barnes Foundation (Philadelphia), and the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, and he has participated in numerous biennials worldwide. His work is held in major international collections, such as MoMA (New York) and has been recognised with numerous awards, including the Deutsche Börse Photography Foundation Prize in 2020.
Charbel Haber is a Lebanese musician, composer, and multidisciplinary artist active in experimental music, film, and performance. Since the late 1990s, he has played a key role in Beirut’s alternative scene, notably as co-founder of the post-rock band Scrambled Eggs. Alongside his solo work, Haber has collaborated on influential underground projects including Malayeen and Johnny Kafta's Anti-Vegetarian Orchestra. His practice combines electroacoustic composition, guitar experimentation, and multimedia work exploring memory, decay, and displacement. Notable releases include the albums Of Palm Trees and Decomposition (2016), A Common Misunderstanding of the Speed of Light (2022), and May a Soft Sun Bless Your Sky When You Wait for the Inevitable.
Floy Krouchi is a French sound artist, bassist and electroacoustic composer whose work combines experimental music, radio art and interactive sound technologies. She is the creator of the FKBass, an augmented bass instrument with integrated sensors, and the founder of the Bass Holograms project. Her practice explores the relationships between sound, perception, technology and identity through performance, composition and installation. Krouchi's award-winning radio works and performances have been presented internationally at institutions and festivals including Centre Pompidou, documenta 13 and Louvre Abu Dhabi.
Tarek Atoui, artist and electroacoustic composer, will unfold the acoustic and electronic potential of his three installations by interconnecting them, transforming them into versatile, polyrhythmic instruments for performance. Played both percussively and by channellingand activating sound underwater, the installations generate a rich sonic environment. A computer programme under Atoui's control processes these sounds in real time, engaging in a dialogue with the collaborating musicians based on their musical input.
