Collection of Suppressed Voices, Performance by Eva Kot’átková

Performance September 27, 2024 07:00 pm – 08:00 pm

Location: Museum Ground Floor (back room)

During the opening, Eva Kot’átková's work, Collection of Suppressed Voices (2014), will be activated by two performers. The artist explores societal power dynamics and the effects of control, norms, and rules on the body and psyche. She thus points to the fragility of beings within rigid structures.

In her work Collection of Suppressed Voices, suppressed voices are represented by a collection of broken, patched, or expanded vessels. The manipulated objects almost seem to come to life, as if they were hiding, preserving, or imprisoning the suppressed voices. In the performance, the voices are given a fleeting and tangible form. The performers relate their own bodies to the objects, which are part of Kot’átková's installation.

Performers: Johanna Kotlaris, Laurie Młodzik
