Artist Talk with Tarek Lakhrissi
Location: Caring Space, Museum, ground floor
The French poet and artist Tarek Lakhrissi’s captivating poems and installations, borrow their aesthetics from a dazzling and vibrant pop culture, aiming to transform traditional narratives. Lakhrissi often uses autofiction – the interfusion of a biographical report with fictional elements – as a tool. Therefore he simultaneously offers his audiences opportunities for identification and tells an imagined story through a myriad of layers.
On the occasion of his current exhibition BLISS, the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst is hosting an artist's talk between Tarek Lakhrissi and the curator of the exhibition Michael Birchall. The conversation develops on the basis of a playlist of songs that the two connect with themes of the exhibition, such as self-discovery in a predominantly white, cisgender and heterosexual society. The approach offers the opportunity to delve into profound discourses via pop culture, which inspire Lakhrissi's artistic practice.
