Textiles rule the world! – Workshop mit DANZ
Meeting point: schwarzescafé, first floor Löwenbräukunst
DANZ invites you to explore the world of textiles at the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst. Founded in Switzerland and based in Glarus, the textile and fashion studio DANZ focusses on how crafts can be brought into the future through contemporary design. DANZ has a great enthusiasm for textile craftsmanship and an interest in sustainable supply chains. In a system where materials are often sourced from highly specialised industrial complexes, DANZ emphasises the importance of incorporating artisanal techniques to revive awareness and understanding of how materials are used and processed. Through the diverse exploration of textiles and fashion practices, projects are created that tell stories.
«Textiles rule the world» – in this workshop we would like to guide you to appreciate the textiles that surround us every day and to feel their fragility and significance with your own hands. Inspired by the exhibition Material Manipulations, we will seek our own approach to textiles by touching, changing, manipulating and connecting them. The workshop invites participants to get creative and explore the artistic treatment of materials. Immerse yourself in the tactile world of textiles and discover the aesthetic qualities, artistic processes and endless material experiments.
The workshop is taking place as part of the Langen Nacht der Zürcher Museen 2024.
