Performance: Felix Gonzalez-Torres, "Untitled" (Go-Go Dancing Platform)

The works of the
Cuban-born American artist Felix Gonzalez-Torres (1957–1996) are
informed by his experience with AIDS and deal with homosexuality, love,
loss, absence, and death. The exhibition will include his sculpture “Untitled” (Go-Go Dancing Platform)
from 1991, which negotiates questions of corporeality in the context of
HIV / AIDS, also in light of the homophobic climate of the 1980s and
1990s, when gay men, regardless of HIV status, faced widespread
discrimination. On five days during the exhibition period, the work will
be the setting of an associated performance.
- From 7.30-ca. 9.30 pm
- Duration: 15 minutes each
