During the sound performance, the keys of two electronic organs are pressed with hammers. By manipulating the sound settings and the hammers, the drone sound changes and dissolves more and more.
The Hammer Band was founded in 2018 by Raphael Stucky & Andreas Thierstein. The musicians improvise on homemade and traditional musical instruments, mixing harmonic and rhythmic elements with sounds and animal noises. In site-specific settings, they incorporate the environment and possibilities of a space, playing on trees, in streams, or in complete darkness, among other things. Listening and concentration are fundamental to the sound atmosphere that is created.
