Ciné-concert: ""The Architect"" by Marc Bauer with a composition by the band Kafka

Film screening May 3, 2013 06:00 pm – 07:00 pm
The Migros Museum of Contemporary Art presents the animation film "The Architect" (2013, 26 mins.) by Marc Bauer, with live musical accompaniment by the French rock ensemble Kafka. This will be the first performance of the Ciné-concert in Zurich. Starting with quotes from the film "Nosferatu, eine Symphonie des Grauens" (1922) by F. W. Murnau, "The Architect" takes the beholder to the Berlin of 1922 where, at the premiere of Nosferatu, a boy experiences in a vision of terror the Second World War and it’s consequences.
The movie is based on about 700 plexiglass plates painted with black oil paint, each of them photographed between 25 to 120 times. These images fixated the small changes made mainly by the use of dry brushes directly on the fresh painted plates and mesmerize the beholder while they melt to the sounds of Kafka's performance. Screenings: 6.30, 7.30 and 8.30 pm
Free admission, limited seating A clip of the film can be watched on our multimedia page. The artist Marc Bauer (b. Geneva 1975) lives and works in Berlin. www.marcbauer.ch / www.kafka1.bandcamp.com
