Book launch: Yael Davids. I am Going to Be Your Last Teacher – A Workbook

The publication I am Going to be Your Last Teacher – A Workbook was conceived for the exhibitions of the artist Yael Davids at Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven (2020) and at Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Zurich (2021). Principles of the Feldenkrais method played a decisive role in both shows: the visitors were invited to approach the selected works from the museums’ collections through body and movement rather than via the sense of vision, as is usually the case.

I am Going to Be Your Last Teacher - A Workbook includes documentation of both exhibitions, but it is foremost an attempt to give form to the experience of the Feldenkrais classes that Davids had conceived for works from the museums’ collections. In addition to the textual polyphony of the experience reports, the workbook is therefore characterised by the image-text collages inspired by Davids' charts.

Nadia Schneider Willen, collection curator at Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, will be in conversation with the graphic designer Linda van Deursen, who has designed all of Yael Davids' publications to date, and the artist about the development process and their close collaboration without which the workbook would be unimaginable.
