Opening
February 8, 2013
06:00 pm
– 07:00 pm
For his first solo exhibition at an art institution in Europe, Stephen G. Rhodes creates a sprawling new room installation. Among his sources for this work are the famous art historian Aby Warburg’s “Lecture on Serpent Ritual,” which has become canonical. The museum also shows the second chapter of a three-part presentation of works from the collection exploring issues in sculpture. The exhibition features works by Heidi Bucher, Thea Djordjadze, Berta Fischer, Loredana Sperini, and Katja Strunz.
6:30pm: Heike Munder, Director, Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, and Raphael Gygax, Curator, Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, address the visitors.
6–8pm: Children’s vernissage
For the second time, a special opening is being held for our young visitors. Children are invited to engage with Stephen G. Rhodes’s exhibition in hands-on activities, and a snack is served. The event is hosted by our art educators Maéva Hormain and Brigit Meier.
