Jakob Kudsk Steensen (b. Køge, Denmark, 1987) combines in his works his interest in digital media and art with anthropological approaches. In the current exhibition Potential Worlds 1: Planetary Memories, he shows the installation RE-ANIMATED (2018-19): A video and virtual reality installation that reacts and reanimates an extinct bird species from Hawaii. Kudsk Steensen’s installation forms a space, where questions arise about current and future technological experiences, notions, and memories pertaining to a disappeared environment and the extinction of threatened species.

Kudsk Steensen lives and works in New York. He studied fine arts at Central Saint Martins in London and art history in Copenhagen. His works have been shown at the Venice Biennale (2019), Matadero Madrid (2019), and Serpentine Galleries, London (2019, 2017), among others.
