Self-empowerment workshop: Giving shape to the precarious

Workshops for adults November 11, 2023 03:00 pm – 05:00 pm

"Sick" and "disabled" are adjectives that – if we admit it to ourselves – we always value in a pitying and disparaging way. The way we use and understand terms and value categories can prevent us from perceiving realities that cannot be easily formulated with certainty and that are just not standard healthy and non-disabled.

How can we approach a norm-free, open and positive way of reading? How can we learn from ourselves and from each other in the process? Do mindful self-care and caring strengthen our resilience, mutual trust, and sense of community in the process?

Kerstin Wittenberg is looking for answers in art. During the workshop, she aims to facilitate exchange and awareness through discussion of different positions from the current exhibition and her personal artistic experiences. She also invites all participants to create a participatory sculpture with her that gives form to the precarious and offers interaction.

The workshop will be held in conjunction with the exhibition Interdependencies: Perspectives on Care and Resilience. All young people and adults who are interested in this topic and want to exchange ideas are welcome.

Kerstin Wittenberg is an artist, art mediator, art student, family woman and much more. Being sick and being a mother of a disabled child also play an important role in her life.
