Focus Tour: Three Women – Three Life Stories
Venue: In the exhibition
The French-Algerian artist Mohamed Bourouissa uses films, objects, AI animations, and photographs to depict people’s life stories —
not those who are in any case in the full glare of publicity, of politics, art and history, rather those who are ‘next door’: ordinary people whose life-stories tell of exclusion, invisibility – but of courage, too, and new perspectives.
Yasmin Naderi Afschar, Co-Director of the Migros Museum of Contemporary Art and curator of the exhibition, invites visitors to a focused guided tour.
She highlights three female figures who are particularly important to the artist: Noubia Meyer, his aunt, who migrated from Blida in Algeria to Germany as a sex worker and led a dynamic life; his distant cousin Alyssia, who challenges stereotypical images of Muslim women; and Nassera, Noubia’s sister, who has spent her entire life in Blida and contributes to the cohesion of her community there.
The tour offers a personal approach to the exhibition and encourages reflection on identity, memory, and social ascriptions.
