PODIUMSDISKUSSION «CLOSE WATCH – DEBATTEN ÜBER SICHERHEIT: PROFILING UND POLICING»
As part of the exhibition Close Watch by Pilvi Takala, the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst is organising the panel discussion "Close Watch - Debates on Security: Profiling and Policing". Starting with questions raised in the exhibition about security structures in our everyday lives, participants will enter the conversation from different perspectives and expertise.
The panel will focus on profiling and policing in public space. Among other issues, questions will be raised on the abuse of power within prevailing surveillance structures, especially in relation to discriminatory profiling. Furthermore, state-regulated security strategies will be evaluated in order to find out who actually needs to be protected from whom.
Journalist and author Amina Abdulkadir will moderate the discussion. Participants will also include security, prevention and communication expert Eva Hürlimann, activist and political scientist Simin Jawabreh, politician and former Zurich city councilor Richard Wolff, and exhibition artist Pilvi Takala.
